What if, Right Now, You Thought You Were A Good Enough Mother?
I don’t know about you, but I woke up this morning feeling as if the start-gate to the race had opened, all the other competitors were off down the racetrack, and somehow I had missed it.
I felt so much pressure to catch up. But, to what? What was I believing I needed to accomplish to be good enough? The perfect sustainable green handmade presents, the locally grown organic feasts? Being energetic, smiling, joyful? On and on, I could list the “self-imposed shoulds” of a ‘holiday season’.
Then, I asked myself, what if I thought, ” I am a good enough mother,” what would I do today? How would I feel?
If you asked yourself this same question, how would you feel? What would you plan for today? How would the ‘holiday’ season feel?
If I could give you one gift, it would be for you to believe, just for this moment and maybe another, that you are good enough. And when you lose your patience, get tired and cranky, you are just being a normal human mother. Forgive yourself and move forward. That way you can forgive all the other imperfect souls that surround us.
Let’s just practice being good enough, as we are. That is enough.
“May you feel safe, May you meet this moment as a friend, May you feel loved.”
Let me know, how is it to believe you are a good enough mom, for right now.
