Soul Food For Momma’s

Soul Food!  We spend so much time thinking about what kind of food we want to feed to ourselves and our children. Organic, local, vegan, paleo….What if we spent that much time thinking about feeding our soul? Would we really want to choose an i thing? Or would we choose nature, paint, clay, wood and music and art?  Can we substitute one real experience for one virtual experience every day?

Next time you reach to  push that pesky little button on your i thing, stop, take a breath, check in with what your soul is hungry for. Are you feeling restless, bored, sad, empty? Will checking Facebook make you feel more content, peaceful and joy filled? What would be a more satisfying way to fill that longing or need? Notice. Maybe you rather step outside and really look at all that is going on for a few moments– the squirrel running across a branch upside down, or the patterns in the bark of the tree you see every day, but haven’t noticed before. Or stretch and breathe with some music, otherwise called yoga.  Or maybe you will just want to really watch your child and learn one new thing about her. Give it a try and increase your happiness once a day. When we get good at pausing and choosing to feed our souls with purpose then it becomes easier to feed the souls of our children. Lets give the i thing a rest at least once today and feed your soul, see how it feels.
